Washington Redskins New Head Coach - Jim Zorn
Jim Zorn was initially hired on as an Offensive Assistant for the Washington Redskin’s on Jan. 26th, and was offered the Head Coaches position about two weeks later. He’s extremely happy about being given this opportunity with a franchise that’s so rich in tradition. Along with taking on the job as head coach, he also plans to be the quarterback coach as well.
For the first time in his coaching career Jim’s also going to get to call his own plays. This new head coach has a lot he needs to learn going into this new coaching position, but he feels he’s up to the challenge. Jim’s the Washington Redskin’s 27th new head coach, and their 5th head coach in the nine years since Dan Snyder has owned the franchise. Dan’s not been too easy or tolerant of his head coaches.
Jim Zorn started out his football coaching career with eight seasons in collegiate ball; two seasons at the University of Minnesota as their quarterbacks coach, three seasons at Utah State as the offensive coordinator, and three seasons at Boise State as their offensive assistant-quarterbacks coach. Zorn moved into coaching at the NFL level in 1997, starting out with the Seahawks. He was their offensive assistant coach.
From there he moved on to the Detroit Lions as their quarterbacks coach from 1998-2000. Prior to coaching football, he started out his football career as the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. While playing football he was well known for breaking records of his own. In his rookie year with Seattle he was named AFC Offensive Rookie of the Year. Jim's experience as a professional football player will definitely come in handy with his new job.
