Washington Pros

Washington D.C. has four professional teams with the Washington Nationals in baseball, Washington Capitols in hockey, Washington Wizards in basketball, and the Washington Redskins in Football.

The Nationals had a rough season finishing last in the National League East with 59 wins and 102 losses. If the manager Jim Bowden keeps his job, he is looking to make some healthy off-season transactions, and pray that his team is injury free by next season. The brutal Don Brashear and his Washington Capitols are looking to capture the Stanley Cup this year. They have started out their 08-09 season 5-3-1 and a top of the Southeast Division. Alexander Semin has been a standout scorer as the Capitols look to plow through the National Hockey League this year. The Washington Wizards are looking to be a serious contender in the Eastern Conference this year. They were lucky enough to keep Gilbert Arenas after he scared the team with threats of opting out of his contract. Even though his presence was missed last year in the first round against Lebron James and his cavaliers, the Wizards put up a fight with Jamison playing outstanding ball. With Deshawn Stevenson and Caron Butler playing well after last year’s experience, along with Arenas they are pushing to go all the way to the NBA Finals. With the Spirit of Sean Taylor looming over the Washington Redskins this year and the addition of Head Coach Jim Zorn, summer camp was a bit different this summer. One of Taylor’s best friends and old teammate at Miami Clinton Portis said that at every game this season he would be wearing a Sean Taylor shirt under his gear. As Taylor’s spirit as the source of Portis’s inspiration he is leading the league this year with 643 yards and six touchdowns. Santana Moss another one of Taylor’s Hurricane teammates throws up the two-one every time he scores a touchdown. The Redskins are 4-2 and are playing each game off the strength of their loss.
