Zorn's West Coast Plays Seem to Be Working
Zorn becoming head coach of the Washington Redskins after Joe Gibbs retired was just what was needed. Zorn continued to achieve what is expected from the Washington Redskins. The Redskins are starting their season strong, beginning with their 30-16 victory over the Indianapolis Colts during the Hall of Fame Game at Canton, Ohio on August 3rd. Zorn has been working with Jason Campbell to become a top quarterback in the league and getting used to play-calling for the Redskins. The Hall of Fame game was successful even without a few key players.
The pre-season home opener against Buffalo Bills allowed Zorn the chance to help the Redskins with his plays to achieve a win. The Washington Redskins had a 17-14 victory over the Buffalo Bills at FedEx Field. Zorn’s West Coast Offense and defensive end Jason Taylor have helped the Redskins make an impact. The Redskins welcomed back on Saturday night running backs Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts to help them in their victory. Zorn called a play in the second quarter that enabled Betts to score on a 12-yard screen pass with quarterback Todd Collins as backup.
The team has had some extra practices under their new head coach learning his west coast plays that have helped them to start off strong. It is common for a team to struggle under a new coach, but the Washington Redskins seemed to work it out before the season began and started with a strong pre-season beginning.
