Washington Nationals

On March 30th, 2008 the Washington Nationals opened up their new stadium in southeast Washington, D.C. It holds more than 41,000 people. The stadium is just south of the Capitol but overlooks the view of the riverfront, Navy Yard, the city, the Capitol Building, and Washington Monument. It is new and improved, with the latest and greatest technology. It now has a 4,500 square foot HD scoreboard. This park took over $611 million dollars to build. So how well are the Nationals playing on the new field?

A few individuals on the Nationals are doing quite well, and have had some great accomplishments so far. Christian Guzman is at the top of the batting average with .294. He has the most hits in the National Leage. Guzman also has five homeruns, and 34 RBI's. Lastings Miledge of the Nationals has the most home runs on the team with 12. Ronny Belliard is second runner up with 10 home runs so far. Willie Harris is close with 9 home runs so far.

Although some of the players may be doing good things, the team as a whole is not looking so hot. The Washington Nationals are currently in last place with a record of 44-76, the worst in Major League Baseball. They recently lost to the Mets, putting them at five losses in a row.

The Nationals have quite a rookie on their team, John Lannan. He is a left-handed pitcher, and they say that he is one of the best rookies in all of baseball.
