Sergei Federov

The Washington Capitals re-signed Sergio Federov this off-season and are looking for him to provide great leadership for their squad. After they acquired him at the trade deadline during the 2007 season, he helped lead the team back to the playoffs. The team is hoping he can once again play an important role on the team and help them compete for a Stanley Cup.

The Capitals acquired Sergio Federov from the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2007, and he helped the team win the Southeast Division for the first time since the 2000-01 season. The Capitals also returned to the playoffs, and almost got out of the first round after forcing a game seven against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Capitals were down 3-1 in the series and almost made a brilliant comeback. The team ended the season, winning 11 of their last 12 games with the help of Federov as well as other key additions such as Matt Cooke and Cristobal Huet. After the season the Capitals signed Federov to a one year contract to help solidify their roster for the upcoming season.

The team has high hopes for the upcoming season, and they are hoping that Federov will be an integral part of taking them to their ultimate goal. With returning players such as Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, and Mike Green to go along with Federov, they have high expectations coming into the season. Hopefully Federov's experience will help bring home a Stanley Cup to the capital city.
