The Washington Capitals hockey team was started in our nations capital in the year 1974. During the 2008 season the the Washington Capitals started out the first half of the season with several losses. After the team general manager got three good players to commit and come to play for the Washington Capitals, the remainder of the season changed. There are two events that happened that will change the season in 2009. The first thing that happened was the re-signing of Semin, who is one of the leading scorers in the league. The second thing that will likely effect the team's outcome was the trading in of Fedorov, Huet, and Cooke to the team in November.

The Washington capitals have never won the Stanley Cup during the history of the team. They have won three division championships and one conference championship. This team has a very high possibility of winning their very first Stanley Cup this year.

NHL Hockey is a very demanding sport. It takes many hours of practice for a team to be able to play together. The team must always play as a team and not as individuals.
