Washington's Sport Teams

Washington, DC is known for many things. It is the home of the White House and our President. Washington has plenty of monuments, museums, and history of our country. Washington is also known for its professional sports teams.

The DC area is home to a number of professional sports teams. The Capitals are their hockey team, DC United is the Men's Soccer, and the Wizards are the Men's Basketball; all these teams call Washington DC Home. Washington is known for it's loyal fans. They stand behind their teams with unwavering loyalty.

In August 2006, the Capitals signed a contract extension with David Steckel. The Capitals have high hopes of getting back into the playoffs this year. DC United is working towards winning the US Open Cup. They are scheduled to play New England on August 12th during a semifinal round. The Freedoms (Women's Soccer) finished third in W-League. The Mystics (Women's Bastketball) named Jessie Kenlaw interim coach. The Wizards are also gearing up for their season with begins in October.

As you can see, Washington, DC is not only our capital but it is the home of many different professional sports teams. The fans are happy, and standing behind their teams today. Keep your eye on Washington, as they might surprise you this year.
