Washington, DC has been a NHL town with loyal fans since it got its first NHL team. It received the Washington Capitals in 1974. The Washington Capitals along with their fans have had one goal on their mind. They have always, like other NHL teams, dreamed of being a part of the play-offs. They have the ultimate goal of coming out of the playoffs as the winner.
But getting to the playoffs has been harder that it seems for the Washington Capitals. Up until the 2007-2008 season, the Capitals never made it to the playoffs. In that year, they lost to the Philadelphia Flyers in the quarterfinals. Even with this upsetting loss, the Washington Capitals are determined to make the playoffs again this year. They really worked hard in the second half of their season to make the playoffs last year. They seem to have a new passion for their playoff goals.

But with his age, Brashear brings to the Washington Capitals a history of determination to succeed, and experience in the NHL. Enforcer and Assistant Captain, Brashear just may help the Washington Capitals win the playoffs this season. They will have 82 games this season beginning October 10th against the Atlanta Thrashers.
