The Washington Redskins lost a part of their family due to a gunshot from an intruded. Shawn Taylor was only 24 years old, with a new family that just began. His death was a tragedy for the Redskins, for NFL, for football, and his family.
Someone entered Taylors house and fired two gun shots, one hit Taylor in the leg. His girlfriend and baby were in the house and fortunately unharmed. Taylor lost a significant amount of blood that day, and never regained conscious. Taylor's house also was broken into eight days before the shooting, this intruder left a kitchen knife on the bed before leaving. They do not know if these two actions are related. The team and family will miss Taylor dearly.
The Redskins lost their teammate during the season; this made it especially hard for them to cope. How can a team grieve and mourn when they have to focus on football, and plays? This made the rest of the season a struggle for them. They have to walk by his locker everyday, and realize day after day that he is gone. They are expected to still play hard, and play tough, even though one of their family members is missing.
Not only did they have to practice and play, and work with a busy football season schedule. They also had to attend a funeral. They lost 3 games before the funeral.
Marcus Washington a linebacker for the Redskins explains that Taylor would do everything and anything for people. He had a real passion for football and would always lend a helping hand.
