Washington Wizards and Gilber Arenas

The Washington Wizards, owned by Raul J. Fernandez and Abe Pollin, started in 1961 as the Chicago Packers. In 196,2 the name was changed to the Chicago Zephyrs. In 1963, the name was changed to the Baltimore Bullets, 1973 to the Capital Bullets, 1974 to the Washington Bullets and then in 1997 to the Washington Wizards. The professional basketball team is located in Washington D.C. and are in the National Basketball Association.

The Washington Wizards have five players in the Basketball Hall of Fame. They are Walt Bellamy, Elvin Hayes, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe, Wes Unseld and Moses Malone.

Gilbert Jay Arenas Jr. was born January 6,1982, in Tampa, Florida and he is a point guard/shooting guard for the Washington Wizards. His nationality is Cuban-American. His college years were at the University of Arizona. “Agent Zero” and “Hibachi” are his nicknames and the fans in the Washington area like both.

Arenas received many Honors and Awards during his career. He was three-time NBA All-Star, three-time All-NBA, Second Team in 2007, and Third Team in 2005 and 2006. He received NBA Most Improved Player Award and NBA All-Star Rookie/Sophomore Game MVP in 2003. His records are a career high scoring 60 points, three regular seasons with 50+ point games, 26 regular seasons with 40+ point games, three regular seasons career triple-doubles and in the Playoffs one season 40+ point games. His NBA record is most points (16) in one overtime period. Arenas' jersey number is “0” and at the end of each game he throws it into the bleachers.
