Jim Zorn, #10, starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks became Head Coach for the Washington Redskins. After playing football for California State Polytechnic University, his professional football began with Seattle Seahawks. He became their NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1976 and Seattle Seahawks team MVP. In 1978, Zorn was selected for ALL-Pro. He was the second player to be inducted into the Seahawks “Ring of Honor" in 1991. He ended his career with the Seahawks, then in 1985 played with the Green Bay Packers as starting quarterback. In 1986, he played for the Winnipeg Bluebomers, and then finished his playing career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneer in 1987.
Zorn’s coaching career began in 1988 and is still going strong. He was the quarterback's coach for the Boise State University until 1991, then went to Utah Stat as their offensive coordinator form 1992 to 1994. From 1995 - 1996, Zorn became the quarterback's coach for the University of Minnesota. He began his NFL coaching career in 1997 with the Seattle Seahawks as offensive assistant to Dennis Erickson. From 1998 to 2000, Zorn became Detroit Lions quarterbacks coach, then returned to Seahawks to become their quarterbacks coach from 2001 to 2007. In 2008, Zorn became the 27th Head Coach for the Washington Redskins. Jim Zorn was hired as offensive coordinator, and then approximately a month later on Feb 10, 2008, Dan Snyder hired Zorn as head coach.
Jim Zorn’s dream of being Head Coach was realized at that moment. Zorn has agreed to a five year contract. Zorn’s career as head coach couldn’t have started any better allowing him to prove himself to the Redskin fans by leading them to their win against the Indianapolis Colts during the Hall of Fame Game.
