Gilbert Arenas is a point guard for the Washington Wizards. Criticized for taking too many shots for a guard, Arenas is known for his 3-point shots at the buzzer. He is known as “Agent Zero” and wears “0” on his jersey as a reminder of those who told him he'd never be a success in professional basketball.
The Golden State Warriors drafted Arenas in the second round. The Warriors were not very successful that year as a team but Arenas demonstrated himself as a force to be reckoned and won the Most Improved Player Award and Most Valuable Player of the Rookie-Sophomore game during the NBA All-Star Weekend. He decided to sign with the Washington Wizards based on a coin flip.
Arenas won fan approval with his outrageous behavior and fierce competitive spirit. He had a banner year in 2005-06 where he averaged 29.3 points per game. Arenas offered to give additional money to the Wizards so they could buy more free agents. In the 2006-07 season, he hit a series of last minute game-winning 3-point shots. He called himself the “hybachi” because he "got hot." In a game against the Lakers, Arenas outscored Kobe Bryant absolutely stunning a Los Angeles crowd. Toward the end of the 2007 season, Arenas tore his MCL and only played 8 games in 2007-08 due to the sore, surgically repaired knee.
Throwing his game jersey into the crowd has become a trademark as shoes were too expensive. He has his own basketball video game and brand of shoes. He is a brother figure to a young boy he met playing video games. Arenas just signed a 6-year contract for $111 million. Arenas has the most popular blog-site of any professional sports figure.
