Washington DC Professional Teams
The Washington Wizards is a basketball team that used to be the Chicago Packers back in 1961. The team moved to Baltimore on 1963 and changing their name to the Bullets. They received their NBA title in 1978 when they were still the Bullets. They became the Wizards in 1997.
The Redskins belong to the Eastern Division of the National Football Conference. They are the second most valuable team in the NFL, worth approximately $1.467 billion. They have played for eleven championships, winning five, including three Super Bowls.
The Washington Nationals is a professional baseball team in Washington, D.C. They moved to their new park just this year. They were founded in Montreal in 1969, as the Montreal Expos. They moved to D.C. in 2005 and became the Nationals.
The Washington Capitals joined the National Hockey League in the 1974–75 season. With thirty teams between the NHL and the WHA, the Capitals had very little experience, and they played against some very experienced players from teams like the Scouts, Atlanta Flames, and New York Islanders. They ended their first season with only eight wins, the worst for any NHL team ever.
During the 1980's they continued to play dreadful. Their General Manager made the biggest trade in hockey history, he traded Ryan Walter and Rick Green to the Montreal Canadians for Rod Langway, Brian Engblom, Doug Jarvis, and Craig Laughlin. This move was the best thing that ever happened to the Capitals. They made the playoffs for the next fourteen years.
