Jason Bergmann

Jason Bergmann started playing for the Washington Nationals in 2005 as a relief pitcher. He didn't join the Major League team until midway through the 2006 season, and he was converted into a starting pitcher in 2007. He currently has a record of 9-16, which isn't terribly promising for his career. He's been particularly disappointing this season, with a dismal record of 1-8. His team is currently 38-67, dropping them to the very bottom of the National League. They actually have the worst record in the Major League overall, and Bergmann isn't really helping matters.

Bergmann hasn't won a game since he played against the New York Mets on May 15th. He's officially the fourth starter on the Nationals roster, but also one of their most troubled. On any other team, he would have likely been sent back to the Minors already. However, the Nationals' problems can't be entirely attributed to their weakness in pitching. June and July have been two of their worst months this season, and things just seem to keep getting worse for them.

When he started pitching as a reliever, his stock was relatively much higher. He would probably do much better to head back to that position, although he's been committing strongly to being a better starter. Last season, the team was 73-89 - not great, but not as abysmal as this season. It's unlikely that they will recover significantly, especially seeing as how they have been doing so much worse in the past couple months.
