One of the newest additions to the Washington Redskins roster is Colt Brennan, a young quarterback drafted from the University of Hawai'i. Brennan is renowned for his accuracy, although a poor performance at this year's Combine lowered his value somewhat. Still, Washington fans and new coach Jim Zorn hope his talents on the field will help the Redskins improve on their 2007 performance and make it back to the Superbowl.
Brennan, like many quarterbacks, played a number of sports in high school before settling on football as his main goal. He started out as a walk-on redshirt with the University of Colorado, but unfortunately was caught up in the CU sports scandals of the time and was dropped from the team. He played for a local community college for a season before taking an invitation to Hawai'i as a chance to distance himself from past problems.
At Hawai'i, Brennan quickly proved he had the skills necessary for the job, taking the starting quarterback position with ease and either tying or breaking eleven offensive records in his first season. He continued to set and break records throughout his tenure there, earning Player of the Year awards, All-American nods, and placing high in the running for the Heisman in both 2006 and 2007. He entered the 2007 NFL Draft, but in the end felt he wasn't quite ready for the professional game and went back for his senior year. In the 2008 Draft, he was picked 186th overall.
