It's no secret that the Redskins haven't had the best couple of years. After winning the Wild Card in 2005, they posted a disappointing 5-11 in 2006, and lost the Wild Card playoffs the following year. Head Coach Joe Gibbs announced his retirement after the 2007 season, spurring a search to find his replacement. That has come in the person of Jim Zorn, a former quarterback and coach for the Seattle Seahawks. Though his previous position was that of quarterback coach only, management hopes his talents will prove to be the vital last component in bringing the Redskins back to the championship.
Zorn was the center of the Seattle Seahawks during the late 1970s and early 1980s, and although the franchise didn't see much success he remained a fan favorite. Zorn retired from play in 1987, taking a position as an assistant coach at Boise State University before moving up to the offensive coordinator position at Utah State. He became quarterback coach for the University of Minnesota in 1995 before moving to the same position in the Seahawks' franchise in 1997. His position with the Washington Redskins will be the first head coaching job of his career.
Management hopes that Zorn's new take on the team, coupled with some substantial personnel moves in the offseason, will help revitalize the organization and lead to more successes on the field. The team's last Super Bowl victory was in 1991, and it's high time to see the Washington Redskins on that field once again.
